π Essential Trekking Tips
ποΈ Acclimatization: It is essential to be acclimatized to the altitude. We recommend arriving in Cusco at least 2 days in advance. The summit is at 5,200 m, where oxygen is reduced.
- π§₯ Appropriate clothing: Wear layers: thermal shirt, fleece, windbreaker jacket, waterproof. Temperatures range from -5Β°C to 15Β°C.
- π₯Ύ Footwear: Trekking boots or shoes with good soles. The terrain is uneven and rocky.
- π§ Hydration: Bring at least 2 liters of water. Dehydration at high altitude is a real risk.
- π Sun protection: Sunscreen (SPF 50+), wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses. UV radiation is very intense at this altitude.
- π« Energy snacks: Dried fruits, cereal bars, chocolate. They will give you energy during the trekking.
- π Medications: Bring your personal medications and consider altitude sickness pills (soroche).
